Honest note: WEBP has no standard DPI metadata field, so a DPI value cannot be stored in WEBP files. DPI is preserved when converting between JPG and PNG.

JPG vs PNG vs WEBP — which should you pick?

  • JPG — best for photos; small files, but lossy. Use it for prints, uploads, and email.
  • PNG — lossless with transparency; ideal for logos, screenshots, and graphics with text.
  • WEBP — modern format with excellent compression for web use, though some older software still can't open it.
